Grob Attack Roy DeVault Author

Postal players became experts in chess opening research. We carefully wrote everything down and collected our theoretical findings into chess books. Roy DeVault and I found publishers for our efforts. Why? Printing costs were expensive before print-on-demand. Some publishers like Ken Smith paid money up front but no royalties on the back end. Ken Smith once offered me $500 to write a book for him. Thanks, Ken, but no thanks. Roy DeVault was an author, a co-author, and an editor. The “London System” by Andy Soltis had me listed as a Research Assistant and Roy DeVault as both an editor and computer typesetter. Roy did a lot of chess work. I experimented with this Grob Attack 1.g4 vs Roy DeVault in what might be called a Spike Attack. That “Spike” idea is 3.g5!?
