Blackmar-Diemer Gambit Torning

Richard Torning sent me this BDG game. He wrote: "Another bullet game featuring my Torning Variation in the BDG Zeller Defense. When I played 14. Nxe4 I was speculating to win the Black queen for my B&N. Whilst I won on time with 20 seconds up my sleeve, this game does feature a nice idea from Stockfish. Black missed it - and indeed I did too - 14...Qa8! Unfortunately, time was of the essence for Black. Rick Torning"

Torning - NN, Casual Bullet game lichess, 20.08.2019 begins 1.d4 d5 2.Nc3 Bf5 3.e4 dxe4 4.g4 Bg6 5.Qe2!? BDG: Zeller Defense - Torning Variation 5...f5 creates a bolt hole for the king 6.Qb5+ [6.gxf5 Bxf5 7.Qb5+ attacks the bishop 7...Bd7 8.Qxb7 Nc6= (8...Bc6?? 9.Bb5+/-)] 6...c6 7.Qxb7 Nd7 8.Qxc6 Rc8 9.Qe6 [9.Qa6] 9...fxg4 [9...Bf7 10.Qxf5+/-] 10.Bg5 Ngf6 11.Bc4 Rxc4?! too hasty. [safer is 11...Qb6=; now 11...h6? 12.Bxf6 Nxf6?? 13.Bb5+ Nd7 14.Qxg6#] 12.Qxc4 Bf7 13.Qa4 [or 13.Qc6] 13...Nd5
14.Nxe4!? [14.Nge2. I did not want to give Black any relief by trading on d5 as I was weak on the light squares. Black realized Nc6 was a threat but lost on time investigating another bolt hole. An interesting Stockfish idea was 14.Nxe4 Qa8!+/=; a difficult move to find in bullet chess. White keeps a slight advantage. My intention after 14.Nxe4 was to win the queen for B+N after say 14...h6?? 15.Nd6+ exd6 16.Bxd8 Kxd8+-] 1-0 [Game notes by Torning]
