Latvian Gambit Traps Cavicchi

Francesco Cavicchi pulled off one trap and fell for another trap in these Latvian Gambit games from 2019. A six mover in the notes has Black dropping a queen to a discovered knight check is classic Petroff Defence fashion, despite this being a Latvian. In the main game vs Ernielunod, Cavicchi asks, "Queen trap in the Latvian gambit?" The emphatic answer from the final move 14...Be6 is Yes, siree!

Anti-London Gambit Peter Chaplin

Peter Chaplin sent me an Anti-London game similar to a Blackburne Gambit.
"It's part of a universal system I'm developing mainly inspired to kill people who play the London system. Now I destroy them with d4 d6 Bf4 e5 dxe5 Nc6 exd6 Qf6. Sure White played pretty awful but there are not many systems that are capable of defeating the London System in only 11 moves. I have a whole bunch of games resulting in quick knockouts! Love your blog. Regards Peter"

Thanks, Peter. It's always fun to win short games in such a decisive manner!

Blackmar-Diemer Gambit Wight

David Wight win with a Blackmar-Diemer Gambit against the Pietrowsky 5...Nc6. White threatens the pinned knight with 6.Bb5 and 7.d5. This game had three sets of doubled pawns. Lots of open lines and weak points. Wight mostly played logical moves to win.
