Blackmar Poehlmann 3...f5 Stead

Kerry Stead wins a Blackmar-Diemer Gambit 3…f5 Poehlmann Variation. The same line may be reached via a Dutch Defence after 1.d4 f5 2.Nc3 d5 3.e4 dxe4. During the past year, I scored 34-1 as White vs 3...f5 in blitz games. Kerry Stead of Australia developed a promising attack. White won when he found a winning tactical combination.

Here is a book with 42 annotated BDG games I played in 2021. Hope you like them.

Stead (1978) – Zaichenko (2104), Titled Tuesday chess.com 11.01.2022 begins 1.d4 d5 2.e4 dxe4 3.Nc3 f5 4.f3 exf3 5.Nxf3 Nf6 6.Bc4 e6 7.Bg5 [Another good approach is 7.Qe2.] 7...Be7 8.0–0 h6 9.Be3 0–0 10.Ne5 Kh7 11.Qe1 c6 12.Qg3 Qe8 13.Rae1 a5 14.Qh3 b5 15.Bd3 b4 16.Ne2 Nd5 17.Bd2 Bf6 18.Nf4 Bxe5 19.Rxe5 Nxf4 20.Bxf4 Ba6 [Better is 20...Qd8 21.c3 Na6 22.g4 although White has compensation for the pawn.]
21.Bxf5+ g6 [The logical alternative is 21...Rxf5 22.Qxf5+ exf5 23.Rxe8 Bxf1 24.Kxf1 g5 25.Rxb8] 22.Qxh6+ Kg8 23.Bxg6 Qd7 24.Rf2 Bc4 25.Rg5 1–0 [Black resigns]

BDG Lemberger 3...e5 Chandler

Will Chandler sacrificed his queen for a forced win in this Blackmar-Diemer Lemberger Countergambit 3...e5. The game continued 4.Nxe4 Qxd4 5.Bd3 Nc6 6.Nf3 - a great line for chess engines but mind-boggling for humans. I usually avoid it with 4.Nge2 as White or 3...Nf6 as Black. Anyway, Will Chandler more than held his own. He opened an attack against White's king. Then comes a surprise queen sacrifice that cannot be refused.

Here is a book with 42 annotated BDG games I played in 2021. Hope you like them.

14.Kxg2 Bxe2+ 15.Kh3 [Or 15.Kh1 exd4 16.Re1 d3 17.h4 Kd7 and Black wins.] 15...Bxf1+ 0–1
