Blackmar-Diemer Tactics Greene

I'm thankful my new book Blackmar-Diemer Tactics is finished. If you love our BDG, this is the book for you. I organized the 500 winning positions into the same variations as my theory books. Blackmar-Diemer Tactics is available on Amazon in ebook and paperback.

Charles Greene approached me at a tournament 15 years ago with the nicest gift. We knew each other by reputation but he was on a mission. Before Greene passed away, he gave me a collection of Opening Adventures magazines from the 1960s. He wanted me to pass them on to someone who would promote the BDG to a future generation. I have followed that directive in writing this blog and publishing many BDG books. I remember USCF Master Charles Greene with this Blackmar-Diemer Gambit Teichmann vs Francisco Guadalupe.

Queen's Gambit Netflix Thoughts

The popular "Queen's Gambit" miniseries on Netflix tells the fictional story of an orphan who wants to become a chess grandmaster. This coming-of-age narrative is based on a novel by Walter Tevis. Imagine if Beth Harmon came along in the 1950s and 1960s instead of Bobby Fischer. Anya Taylor-Joy is masterful in the lead role. It reminds me of why I fell in love with chess books 50 years ago. The show contains mature themes and adult language not suitable for children. Still, I enjoyed all seven episodes. Great show!

Below we have a Queen’s Gambit Albin Counter Attack between Woman FIDE Master Mounika Akshaya Bommini of India and International Master Lawrence Trent of England. When White avoided 3.dxe5 for 3.cxd5 she probably never envisioned playing 13.Ka5.
