The popular "Queen's Gambit" miniseries on Netflix tells the fictional story of an orphan who wants to become a chess grandmaster. This coming-of-age narrative is based on a novel by Walter Tevis. Imagine if Beth Harmon came along in the 1950s and 1960s instead of Bobby Fischer. Anya Taylor-Joy is masterful in the lead role. It reminds me of why I fell in love with chess books 50 years ago. The show contains mature themes and adult language not suitable for children. Still, I enjoyed all seven episodes. Great show!
Below we have a Queen’s Gambit Albin Counter Attack between Woman FIDE Master Mounika Akshaya Bommini of India and International
Master Lawrence Trent of England. When White avoided 3.dxe5 for 3.cxd5 she probably never envisioned playing 13.Ka5.
