London System Poisoned Pawn

Black grabs the poisoned pawn in this flexible London System 1.d4 Nf6 2.Nf3 d5 3.Bf4. The solid approach places pawns on e3, d4, and c3. In the grandmaster battle between Ivan Sokolov and Loek Van Wely, White played 7.c4 to open up the position. Black's queen picked off a pawn on b2 and the knight on e2. White won the queen in return.
